Synopsis : -
The story is about a German scientist , Otto Lidenbrock who discovers the existence of a volcanic tube or tunnel that leads to the centre of the earth . His discovery is based on a cryptic note that is found in an old manuscript he buys . His nephew , Axel who helps him decipher the coded message it was by a man named Arne Saknussem and Hans , their guide , set off to explore the tunnel thus encountering many adventures . They encounter astonishing sights of prehistoric animals , plants , natural disaster and unusual landscapes . The living creatures that they meet represent the different era or time from the beginning of the earth . The animals and plants too become more and more ancient as Otto , Axel and Hans travel deeper into the earth . The tunnel finally ends in Italy .
